- Abstract: Balters introduced the Bionator to correct malocclusions due to functional muscular deficiency. The main objectives of the treatment according to Balters are to obtain a passive lip closure, increase buccal space in order to reestablish function, stimulate growth of the jaws, obtain a balanced relationship of the incisors, jaws, tongue, teeth and surrounding tissues. The purpose of this work was to study the effects and stability of the treatment of Class II malocclusion, through a clinical case. The patient complained of his facial profile and the marked overjet. The use of the Bionator resulted in a good esthetic as well as functional relationship. With the patient's compliance and the correct use of the appliance, an efficient therapeutic correction was obtained. The stability of the treatment was satisfactory due to the retention protocol used in order to maintain the results achieved through functional orthopedics
