- Abstract: The composite resin has been very used as restorer material, in anterior even posterior region, due to phyical, mechanical and optical properties. This study aimed to determine the intensity of forces generated during the polymerization contraction of light curing lining materials, a composite resin and association of these materials. Two rectangular steel bases (6 X 2mm) were positioned in an universal testing machine (Emic - DL 500). The materials were inserted between the bases, with volume of 12mm3 and FC 1,5 and, in the association, 6mm3 for lining and 12mm3 for resin (n=10). The tensions generated during the light curing (20s) were registered for 120s. The values were expressed in curves (force X time) and the means were compared by statistical analysis. The calcium hydroxide produced smaller force of contraction (5,5N) than composite resin (7,0N) and glass ionomer cement (10,3N). The resin association with calcium hydroxide (medium=7,0N) didn't demonstrate statistical difference related to resin composite alone. However, glass ionomer cement associate with composite resin provided significant increase of resin's contraction force (9,4N), whereas the association of two increments of composite resin determined the biggest force (11,9N). In conclusion, according the results, resin components included in lining materials can influence the stress generated during the polymerization contraction of composite resin
