- Abstract: The internal root destruction widens the root canal and weakens the tooth structure, making the tooth more susceptible to fracture. According to several authors, the reconstruction of widened roots using adhesive techniques that increase the thickness of the root walls and decrease the caliber of the root canals may reinforce the dental structure, allow the use of cylindrical posts and increase post retention. The objective of this work was to show an internal root reconstruction clinical report using a modified root reinforcement technique reported by LUI at 1994, proposing the substitution of the stainless steel post Luminex® (Dentatus) by the carbon fiber post. According to this technique, the composite resin located in the deep portion of the root canal was polymerized through a transparent plastic post, an then a matching post was cemented into the post space. In vitro studies regarding the finite element analysis have elucidated that the forces are best distributed when the teeth are restored using fiber posts and, on a different note, there is a concentration of forces when teeth are restored using metallic posts. In this way, the severely weakened pulpless teeth may be preserved at the present clinical report with a predictable prognosis, avoiding its extraction
