- Abstract: In the classification of 1992 of the World Organization of the Health (WHO), the Odontogenic Keratocist tumor (OKT) it was contained among the odontogenic development cists. Based in recent studies, the new classification of the odontogenic tumors of 2003 brings the odontogenic keratocist tumor among the tumors of odontogenic epithelium with ripe fibrous matrix without ectomesênquima odontogênico. Local aggressiveness and recurrence are frequently observed and they are incompatible with the characteristics of maxillaries cysts. Microscopically, the discharge mitotic activity of the epithelium, the active growth of the conjunctive fabric and the multicentric pattern proliferation exhibited by some OKT healthy outstanding differences with other cysts of the maxillaries. It is added this, the immunocytochemical study of the specimens showing positive demarcation for proteins related with neoplastic potencial. On the other hand, the loss of suppressor tumors genes has also been observed through genetic researches in bearers of OKT. Like this, the behaviors doctor and microscopic of the lesion they sustain the comparison with benign tumors originating from of the odontogenic fabrics, especially, with the ameloblastoma (adamantioma). This work has as objective presents the new classification of OMS, through clinical images, radiographic and histopatological that illustrate the aspects that characterize the odontogenic keratocist tumor as a neoplastic
