- Abstract: The cryosurgery consists of the application of an agent cryotherapic (liquid nitrogen, mainly) with the purpose of provoking selective necrosis in the tissue. It happens a fast transfer of heat of the skin or of the mucous membrane in direction to the applied nitrogen, beginning like this a necrosis of tissues. The transformation of water in ice takes to the loss of liquids and it generates an osmotic gradient in the cellular membrane, creating an irreversible damage. The low temperatures provoke vasoconstriction and aggression of tissues, promoting aggregation of platelet and necrosis ischemic. Among other indications, the cryosurgery can be used for the treatment of small hemangiomas and other vascular lesions. The hemangioma is considered a hamartoma, being more common in newly born and in the childhood, could also happen in adults. We told the case of a patient leukoderma, 28 years old, with complaint of a " pit in the mouth " and 3 year-old duration The lesion increased of size and it had purple coloration. To the loco-regional inspection it was noticed vascular lesions of 1 cm, in the inferior lip and in the labial joint. The diagnosis hypothesis was of hemangioma. The proposed treatment was the cryosurgery through application of 2 cycles of 30 seconds with interval of 5 minutes. After 3 weeks of reapply was accomplished and the resolution of the case happened in 6 weeks without relapse
