- Abstract: The present study investigated the effect of three different models of training and competition-load structuration in the acceleration (cyclical / acyclical displacement velocity [CAV]). The sample was composed of 32 adult male basketball players from the main division, divided into three groups (Models): a selective-load model (SLM), a concentrated-load model (CLM) and a complex-load model (CXM). The macrocycle was composed of a preparatory phase (PP) and a competition phase (CP), with 6 weeks for the PP in the three models, 18 for the CP in the SLM and CXM and 16 for the CLM. The tests were performed at the beginning of the PP (T0), at the end of the PP (T1), at the end of the first half of the CP (T2) and at the end of the CP (T3). An adapted test T (C40) was utilized to evaluate the CAV. For data treatment, the ANOVA for repeated measurements was utilized and Tukey's post-hoc HSD test, when necessary. The significance level was established at 5%. In T0 and T2, no difference was verified between the models (P > 0.05), [gross values]. For T1, the SMM was differentiated from CLM and CXM (P > 0.05). For the effect of the treatment, diverse dynamics were verified among the studied models, which seemed to reflect the distribution of the training content for each phase. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the three investigated models and also suggest that different adaptation responses can be expected in function of the load-distribution characteristic
